You might be wondering to yourself…”What exactly is Fur Face Boy?” Well…
As a kid growing up I always loved cartoons, comics, toys, video games, quirkiness, art and style. These loves led me to constantly doodle and draw. Whether on the kitchen floor, on a car ride, in school or during a meeting at work…to this very day, I still daze off and get lost doing what I love.
Throughout Elementary, Junior High and High School I continued to draw and make art. As I entered college, believe it or not I went in with hopes of capturing a degree in…WHAT?!...Business!?! My parents always believed that art was never a realistic way of making a living, so I basically pursued a business degree on their behalf.
But I couldn’t get away from my love, I still took drawing classes and instead of finance and accounting courses I signed up for graphic art / design courses. These courses taught me the elements and aspects of design that would further drive my love! I was hooked! Graphic design was made for me!
My parents still didn’t believe that art was the way to go…”Why not be a doctor? A lawyer? An engineer? Work at a bank…” they’d tell me, but I had no motivation, no passion and no love for any of that! Why would anybody pursue something that they have no interest in? WHY?! I never understood that, so I ignored my parents’ wishes and just did what I wanted to do!
After receiving my degree in graphic art, it was time to prove to my parents that I really could make a living from art. I interviewed, interned and worked for many corporate in-house art teams, small design studios as well as big name ad agencies. Along the way, I worked with many types of people. From hip / trendy designers to cocky business jerks, rowdy sleazoids to uptight worrywarts, the uninspired to the highly motivated…I’ve worked with them all, so I made sure I learned a thing or two from everybody and everything around me so that my skill set would just keep growing and keep getting better!
But as much as I love graphic design, I always grew tired of my jobs, I grew tired of the product I was designing for, I grew tired of the clients, I grew tired of office politics, I grew tired of never getting the credit I felt I deserved. These things and more lead me to constantly think to myself…”This is it. Welcome to the rest of your life.”
NO! I didn’t want this to be the rest of my life! I then thought…”Hmmm…I have enough experience under my belt and enough money saved up to do what I want to do, so why the hell not?” Thus, the beginning of Fur Face Boy! A highly attentive to detail T-shirt brand representing my loves, today’s youth culture and all of the quirkiness in-between! All done the way I envision it!
From building close relationships to my vendors, to the paper stock and size of the hangtags, from where elements are produced (EVERYTHING manufactured only in the beautiful U.S.A.), to the length of the hangtag fasteners, from the way a label is sewn on, to the way a shirt is folded and bagged. EVERYTHING is done with an extreme attention to detail. EVERYTHING is done from the things I've come to learn and experience in my career as well as my life. EVERYTHING made from my love direct to you! Most Fur Face Boy shirts are limited too, so once they’re gone, I mean it when I say... “They’re gone!”
I’m one to believe that as a kid, we all have a special talent / skill…a love for something. Whether it’s art, science, music, sports, cooking, writing, philosophy, mathematics, business, or whatever…it’s just a matter of constantly developing that love while ignoring everyone who doubts and makes fun of it.
Fur Face Boy is the brand for that kid that’s still in all of us, who grew up yet never let go of their love.
